Gmail - Invitation to My Bo - asilocreo@gmail.com

Gmail - Invitation to My Bo - asilocreo@gmail.com My BO www.barackobama.com "The best education I received was working with people in the community on a grassroots basis.  Because what it taught me was that ordinary people, when  they are working together can do extraordinary things." -Barack Obama This is to invite you to go to: http://www.my.barackobama.com/n2n. Please create your own account, and be part of Camp Obama.  Learn about our efforts to elect Obama as the 44th President of the United States of America on November 4th, 2008. Find local and statewide information. Today you can get started. My.barackobama.com gives you the power to make a difference in this election.  With the ability to create your own groups, organize your own events, and write your own blogs, you have the basic tools for grassroots organizing at your fingertips.  Check out my blog and group: 7CD34. Join others, create your own. You can start now. I am also inviting you to come to my group meeting on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm, on 801 East 4th St/Hewitt L.A. CA 90013. Please come this Wed. 9/17/08, before 7pm to chat prior to the meeting, call me 213-765-0074, email me at asilocreo@yahoo.com.  I am a Data Manager - Deputy Field Organizer, for my 34th Congressional District. I am a member of the North California Latinos for Obama, and involved in the battleground efforts in the state of Nevada.  The 2008 Presidential Election - which is less than 70 days away - is the best chance we have had to set our country on a new path in 40 years.  We have the candidate.  We have the suppoort.  Our challenge is to organize that support to do what we have to do to win the election.  You can get started now. Because Barack Obama's vision is one of shared values, common purpose, and working together to change our country, we can articulate those values, define common purpose and work together - as voters, supporters, volunteers - to build a winning campaign. You can start today. "The problem of democracy is not the problem of getting rid of kings.  It is the problem of clothing the whole people with the elements of kingship.  To make kings and queens out of a hundred million people!  That is the problem of American democracy." -F.C. Morehouse This campaign for change is built upon three principles: Respect, Empowerment, and Inclusion, which is the mantra for our campaign and organizing.  I embraced these values almost six decades ago.  I am committed to respect myself and others, including myself in this campaign for our empowerment. One of the greatest gifts from Senator Obama to all of his supporters is his clear and detailed statements on the issues that matter to the American people. You can find more policy information on Iraq, Energy, Higher Education, Jobs, Health Care, Labor, Support a Woman's Right to Choose, Foreign Affairs, Defense, Faith, Immigration at www.barackobama.com/issues. My issues are Faith, Labor, Jobs, Healthcare, Women Choice, Education, Immigration. Faith Obama laid down principles for how to discuss faith in a pluralistic society, including the need for religious people to translate their concerns into universal, rather than religion-specific, values during debate.  In December 2006, Senator Obama discussed the importance of faith in the global battle against AIDS. Labor Obama will strenghten the ability of workers to organize unions.  He will fight for passage of the Employee Free Choice Act.  Obama will ensure that his labor appointees support worker's rights and will work to ban the permanent replacement of striking workers.  Obama will also increase the minimum wage and index it to inflation to ensure it rises every year. Jobs Obama will create an Advanced Manufacturing Fund to identify and invest in the most compelling advanced manufacturing strategies.  The Fund will have a peer-review selection and ward process based on the Michigan 21 Century Jobs Fund, a state-level initiative that has awarded over $125 million to Michigan businesses with the most innovatgive proposals to create new products and new jobs in the state.   Healthcare Obama's Plan to Cover Uninsured Americans: Obama will make available a new national health plan to all Americans, including the self-employed and small businesses, to buy affordable health coverage that is similar to the plan available to members of Congress. The Obama Plan will create a National Health Insurance Exchange to help individuals who wish to purchase a private insurance plan.  The Exchange will act as a watchdog group and help reform the private insurance market by creating rules and standards for participating insurance plans to ensure fairness and to make individual coverage more affordable and accessible.  Insurers would have to issue every applicant a policy, and charge fair and stable premiums that will not depend upon health status. Support a Woman's Right to Choose Obama nderstands that abortion is a divisive issue, and respects those who disagree with him.  However, he has been a consitent champion of reproductive choice and will make preserving women's rights under Roe v.Wade a priority as President.  He opposes any constitutional amendment to overturn the Supreme Court's decision in that case.   Higher Education Obama will create the American Opportunity Tax Credit, which will make college affordable for all Americans.  This universal and fully refundable credit will ensure that the first $4,000 of a college education is completely free for most Americans, and will cover two-thirds the cost of tuition at the average public college or university and make community college tuition completely free for most students.   Immigration Obama wants to preserve the integrity of our borders.  He supports additional personnel, infrastructure and technology on the border and at our ports of entry.  Obama believes we must fix the dysfunctional immigration bureaucracy and increase the number of legal immigrants to keep families together.  "It took a lot of blood, sweat and tears to get to where we are today, but we have just begun.  Today we begin in earnest the work of making sure that the world we leave our children is just a little bit better than the one we inhabit today." -Barack Obama The story of Obama for America is the path our candidate has followed - starting with his roots, and his childhood in Hawaii and Indonesia, through the South side of Chicago doing community organizing, through his tenure as president of the Harvard Law Review, through the Illinois Senate and now as the Democratic Nominee for President of the USA. My story is the path I have followed - starting with my roots in Puerto Rico, and teenagehood in New York City, through "El Barrio", Boricua town in Manhattan doing community organizing, through my tenure as English-Spanish translator of the San Francisco Immigration Court, and home business as translator-writer for political refugees and asylees, and now online business as creative political and spiritual writer-translator, as well as community and political activist in Downtown Los Angeles, CA. The key to my motivation is understanding that my values inspire action through emotion.  My emotions inform me of what I value in myself and in the world and enable me to express my motivational content to others. In other words, because I experience them emotionally, my values are what actually do move me to act, not just think I ought to act.  I am an emotional womyn, highly motivated to do all that I can do to look after my six grands, three children, myself and others. "To exaggerate is to weaken." -Jean Francois de la Harpe In all of the Presidential elections that have happened since 1789, several have been elections of note: 1796 (Thomas Jefferson & John Adams were within 3 electoral votes of each other), 1860 (Abraham Lincoln), 1940 & 1944 (FDR's third & fourth terms respectively), 1960 (Kennedy & Nixon's first televised debate), 2000 (hanging chads) ... And when the history books are written, 2008 will be listed among them. Barack Obama has audacious plans to change the electoral map.  You can be part of it. "Our country, right or wrong.  If right, to be kept right; when wrong, to be put right." -Carl Schurz If you have any questions please call me and/or email me anytime.  Hope to hear from you soon and to see you on Wednesday, 9/27/08 on or about 7:00pm.  Thanks/Gracias! WAKE UP AND SMELL THE NEIGHBORHOOD

Dear DLA/Ms. M., My name is Maria Fadli. I am a puertorrican woman, age 58, who lives, work and play in Downtown Los Angeles. I am an avid reader of the Downtown news, specially your section. Every week, I go to Macys Plaza, at 7th/Flower Sts., to pick up a copy. I find me a seat close to the front door, to glance the news, and sit to read your articles. I also enjoy playing the lottery, watching the people walking by or sitting next to me, listening to the music playing on the loud speakers throughout the plaza. And I sing out loud to my favorite tunes, smelling the aromas coming from the bed & bath and secret perfume stores. I weight myself in the scale located outside the nutritional store, which provides a weight record that can be accessed with a code. I dream of working out in the gym, but more often than not, I go straight to the food mart. I browse the shops, sit to eat and read on the tables, visit the restrooms, and chat with the security guards and other patrons. This is my kind of city easy living, everything close and near by. Most of the time, I read your articles to its entirety, and like them. I am interested in the subject matter, and I agree with the majority of your opinions. I like the way you write. I laugh at some of the things you said. Overall, I identify with your mode of thinking. And this is enough enjoyment for me. But today, I am enjoying writing to you, and accepting your invitation to send some thoughts to start a discourse about the topic of "No City Is Ever Completely Safe", about the "A Jarring Downtown Wake-Up Call", Downtown News article, page 6, August 4, 2008. A city person, I enjoy urban living, specifically the 24 hours public transportation, buses, subway, hailing taxis in the streets, the hospitals, stores, schools, library, and the theaters, movies, art galleries, parks nearby, and the outdoors concerts, fairs, and multicultural festivals. I enjoy walking my dog, seeing people walking in the streets, being in crowds, and yet able to keep my autonomy. All this is available to me in South Park, Downtown Los Angeles, where I live. This is why after reading your article, I decided to comment on the following: * "I've lived Downtown for three years, and in that time have always felt safe." (this can be a false sense of security- it is not always safe), * "it's mostly been a matter of exercising judgment" (this is too intellectual- it may help but we need to be ready to fight or fly), * "avoiding people who look like they might hassle you" (there is no way to know who would hassle you-anybody can, panhandlers, homeless, working and upper classes), * "during a recent walk with my husband and our baby down Broadway, however, I got a jarring wake-up call" (yes, DLA has unpleasant, harsh, and irritating sounds, like the jarring noise of the iron gate scraping on the sidewalk, and as cacophonous as a henyard, but we chose to live here- it comes with the territory), * "at the corner of Third and Broadway, and apparently homeless man suddenly leaned into the baby stroller and at the top of his lungs shouted, Wake up!" (this can be expected, even as you were in the "good" part of Broadway, but I look at it this way too, perhaps this is the way this guy communicates, his way to say hello, or to warn you, safeguarding you to: Wake-Up and Smell the Neighborhood - after all you said you was distracted, and he yelled at you, and you said the baby did not wake up. Also notice this is the reason why the Spanish women cover their baby strollers with a blanket - to avoid people getting on their baby's face), * "we were caught off guard" (this a perfect victim, distracted, unsuspecting, who appears to be confident, unprepared, and off guard - A person that can be easily stunned when someone suddenly appearing, yelling, making gestures and/or touching), * "the guy started walking away when my husband confronted him" (you had the opportunity to avoid confrontation when he started walking away, but, you chose to confront- with your baby on a stroller- to an apparent crazy guy- this is bad- it is dangerous to initiate a confrontation, if you can avoid it-please walk away- to initiate a fight, start cursing, is too much of an unnecessary risk), * "asking what the heck he was doing" (do you really think a person which such behavior is really able to stop to explain to you what they are doing and why- and if they do-would any explanation do?) The rest of your article I construed as your venting, and its fine, but I won't comment on it, however, I agree with you that, "you have the right to be angry and react", but it would do you more good to be proactive and act. Notwithstanding, I am glad you are staying in DLA, and I have some pointers to help with that. I lived in big cities all my life and had survive for almost sixty years. I lived in San Juan, Puerto Rico, for 15 years, New York City, New York, for 20, San Francisco, California, for 15, and Los Angeles, California, for 8. I lived by myself, raising three children as a single mother, now ages, 41, 38, and 26. These are my survival tips for preparations and protections: * Preparations: I pray, before I leave my home and when I returned from church, work, market, movies, restaurants, walking the dog, etc.. I thank God for bringing me back and forth safe and sound. And I am always alert, expecting the worse, in the look-out, like a "perro sabueso" (sleuth dog). I plan and time my trips. I am ready to defend and protect myself. I measure the danger, watch for the signs I give out (like appearing to be an easy victim, distracted, carrying valuables,) not aware of my surroundings (night time, alone,) and my disadvantages (older, disabled, poor, woman of color, overweight, attractive, and Spanish, etc.). * Protections: I pray. And I have a plan. I always carry a survival kit consisting of a water bottle filled with home-made (chili, vinegar, pepper) spray, a spiky bracelet and an umbrella. I always wear a jacket with pockets, a shoulder bag, with a small umbrella can be extended. I wear shoes, boots or sneakers , enabling me to run or kick, and I braid my hair with electrical wires. To use my braid as the doberman pinscher dog uses the tail. Moreover, I don't acknowledge any conversation, distractions or attempts from people to get close to me or take advantage of me. I don't give out the time, directions, or money. I don't talk to strangers. And when anyone move into my space, I do like new yorkers do, quickly yell along with a tough gesture, "Get out of my face". And I mean it! Last but not least, I have my BID- Business Improvement District, South Park bike patrol phone number coded in my cell. The office happens to be few steps from my home, so I took the time to drop by and get acquainted. I am willing and able, ready and merry, to strike back, fast, wasting no time. Action speaks louder than words in the streets. Finally, I have had my share of drama, and confrontations, and calling the police, and close calls too, but I was prepared and protected myself. I know that I have the right to refuse and resist to be victimized. And to protect and defend myself by all means necessary. Your spiritual, physical, and emotional preparations and protections will give you the wisdom, attitude, and quick response necessary to enjoy the life you deserve, for a long time to come. I wish you to be well, to be sound and safe, to take care yourself, and for God to guide your way, may God Bless you always, mija!

BE KINDER THAN NECESSARY

There comes the time in our lives when we think about the people who matters to us,
people who never did, people who won't matter anymore, people who always will. I don't worry about people from my past, there is a reason why they didn't make it to today. And I know that, it is the HERE and NOW that matters because YESTERDAY is GONE and TOMORROW may never COME. So, I am kinder than necessary because everyone I meet is fighting some kind of battle.

SMILE

Now that food has replaced sex in my life, I can't even get into my own pants.

Marriage changes passion. Suddenly you're in bed with a relative.

I saw a woman wearing a sweat shirt with "Guess" on it. So I said "Implants?" She hit me.

How come we choose from just two people to run for president and over fifty for Miss America ?

I signed up for an exercise class and was told to wear loose-fitting clothing. If I HAD any loose-fitting clothing, I wouldn't have signed up in the first place!

When I was young we used to go "skinny dipping," now I just "chunky dunk."

Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.

Wouldn't it be nice if whenever we messed up our life we could simply press 'Ctrl Alt Delete' and start all over? AMEN, AMEN !!

Wouldn't you know it... Brain cells come and brain cells go, but FAT cells live forever.

Why do I have to swear on the Bible in court when the Ten Commandments cannot be displayed outside?

SEVEN PRINCIPAL INFLUENCES IN MY LIFE

MY LIFE INFLUENCES GOD/YHWK

The English transliteration of God's personal name is YHWH, with vowels added, YAHWEH, translated to I AM WHO I AM. The four Hebrew letters transliterated YHWH are:

YHWH 1 a Yod, rhymes with "rode", which we transliterate "Y"

YHWH 2 a He, rhymes with "say", which we transliterate "H"

YHWH 3 a Vav, like "lava", which we transliterate "W" or "V"

YHWH 4 another He

No matter what language you use, whether you translate or transliterate, YHWH's name means "I am that I am" and it directly points to His real name, which is the same in all languages.

She was commonly known, particularly in her later years, by the honorific La Doña. She was born María de los Ángeles Félix Güereña in Álamos, Sonora, Mexico. There is some dispute regarding Ms. Félix's date of birth. There is a large (but not unanimous) opinion (shared by IMDb) that she was born on April 8, 1914, which means that she died on her 88th birthday. Her beauty and flamboyant personality propelled her to international stardom and icon status, in movies like Woman Without a Soul and La Generala, and especially Doña Bárbara. She refused to work in Hollywood unless she made her grand entrance from the "big door" and not the small roles offered by Cecil B. de Mille Félix stated "I was not born to carry a basket". She married her second husband (1943), the composer Agustín Lara, whom she also divorced in 1947. He wrote many songs for her, among them the famous María Bonita. It has been recorded by many singers including Plácido Domingo. Other song writers also composed songs for her, like María de Todas las Marías by Juan Gabriel. To a reporter that asked her how old she was, Marias responded, look Ms., I have been very busy living my life and had to time to count it. ". (*16) PAC wes the most prominent Puerto Rican political figure of the 20th century, a National Hero who sacrificed his life for the freedom of his country. She he was also an advocate for the independence of Puerto Rico and an ardent civil rights activist for women and African/Afro-Caribbean writers.

Julia de Burgos was born in Carolina, Puerto Rico on February 17, 1914. She was raised in a poor section of Carolina called Barrio Santa Cruz. Her family's poverty did not keep her from developing a love for nature and her country. She was very fortunate to be able to attend school, since she came from a very large family of thirteen children.

Burgos graduated at the age of nineteen from the University of Puerto Rico with a degree in teaching. She became a teacher, but her love for literature led her to write poetry. Among her early influences were Luis Llorens Torres, Clara Lair, Rafael Alberti and Pablo Neruda. Her inspiration came from her love of Puerto Rico and as noted in her first work El Rio Grande de Loiza.

Frida Kahlo (July 6, 1907July 13, 1954) was a Mexican painter, who has achieved great international popularity. She painted using vibrant colors in a style that was influenced by indigenous cultures of Mexico as well as by European influences that include Realism, Symbolism, and Surrealism. Many of her works are self-portraits that symbolically express her own pain and sexuality.

In 1929 Kahlo married the Mexican muralist Diego Rivera. They shared political views, and he encouraged her artistic endeavors.Although she has long been recognized as an important painter, public awareness of her work has become more widespread since the 1970s. Her "Blue" house in Coyoacán, Mexico City is a museum, donated by Diego Rivera upon his death in 1957.

KAHLIL GIBRAN

ON GIVING

Then said a rich man,

"Speak to us of Giving."

And he answered:

You give but little

when you give of your possessions.

It is when you give of yourself

that you truly give.

For what are your possessions

but things you keep and guard

for fear you may need them tomorrow?

And tomorrow,

what shall tomorrow bring

to the over prudent dog burying bones

in the trackless sand

as he follows the pilgrims

to the holy city?

And what is fear of need

but need itself?

Is not dread of thirst

when your well is full,

thirst that is unquenchable?

There are those who give little

of the much which they have -

and they give it for recognition

and their hidden desire

makes their gifts unwholesome.

And there are those

who have little and give it all.

These are the believers in life

and the bounty of life,

and their coffer is never empty.

There are those who give with joy,

and that joy is their reward.

And there are those who give with pain,

and that pain is their baptism.

And there are those who give

and know not pain in giving,

nor do they seek joy,

nor give with mindfulness of virtue;

They give as in yonder valley

the myrtle breathes

its fragrance into space.

Though the hands of such

as these God speaks,

and from behind their eyes

He smiles upon the earth.

It is well to give when asked,

but it is better to give unasked,

through understanding;

And to the open-handed

the search for one who shall receive

is joy greater than giving

And is there aught you would withhold?

All you have shall some day be given;

Therefore give now,

that the season of giving may be yours

and not your inheritors'.

You often say,

"I would give, but only to the deserving."

The trees in your orchard say not so,

nor the flocks in your pasture.

They give that they may live,

for to withhold is to perish.

Surely he who is worthy to receive

his days and his nights

is worthy of all else from you.

And he who has deserved to drink

from the ocean of life

deserves to fill his cup from your little stream.

And what desert greater shall there be

than that which lies in the courage

and the confidence, nay the charity, of receiving?

And who are you that men should rend

their bosom and unveil their pride,

that you may see their worth naked

and their pride unabashed?

See first that you yourself

deserve to be a giver,

and an instrument of giving.

For in truth it is life that gives unto life -

while you, who deem yourself a giver,

are but a witness.

And you receivers -

and you are all receivers -

assume no weight of gratitude,

Rather rise together with the giver

on his gifts as on wings;

For to be over mindful of your debt,

is to doubt his generosity

who has the free-hearted earth for mother,

and God for father.

On Love

Then said Almitra, "Speak to us of Love."

And he raised his head and looked upon the people,

and there fell a stillness upon them.

And with a great voice he said:

When love beckons to you follow him,

Though his ways are hard and steep.

And when his wings enfold you yield to him,

Though the sword hidden

among his pinions may wound you.

And when he speaks to you believe in him,

Though his voice may shatter your dreams

as the north wind lays waste the garden.

For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you.

Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning.

Even as he ascends to your height and caresses

your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun,

So shall he descend to your roots a

nd shake them in their clinging to the earth.

Like sheaves of corn he gathers you unto himself.

He threshes you to make you naked.

He sifts you to free you from your husks.

He grinds you to whiteness.

He kneads you until you are pliant;

And then he assigns you to his sacred fire,

that you may become sacred bread for God's sacred feast.

All these things shall love do unto you

that you may know the secrets of your heart,

and in that knowledge become a fragment of Life's heart.

But if in your fear you would seek

only love's peace and love's pleasure,

Then it is better for you that you cover

your nakedness and pass out of love's threshing-floor,

Into the seasonless world where you shall laugh,

but not all of your laughter,

and weep,

but not all of your tears.

Love gives naught but itself

and takes naught but from itself.

Love possesses not nor would it be possessed;

For love is sufficient unto love.

When you love you should not say,

"God is in my heart," but rather,

I am in the heart of God."

And think not you can direct the course of love,

if it finds you worthy, directs your course.

Love has no other desire but to fulfill itself.

But if you love and must needs have desires,

let these be your desires:

To melt and be like a running brook

that sings its melody to the night.

To know the pain of too much tenderness.

To be wounded by your own understanding of love;

And to bleed willingly and joyfully.

To wake at dawn with a winged heart

and give thanks for another day of loving;

To rest at the noon hour and meditate love's ecstasy;

To return home at eventide with gratitude;

And then to sleep with a prayer

for the beloved in your heart

and a song of praise upon your lips.

ON PLEASURE

Then a hermit, who visited the city once a year,

came forth and said, "Speak to us of Pleasure."

And he answered, saying:

Pleasure is a freedom song,

But it is not freedom.

It is the blossoming of your desires,

But it is not their fruit.

It is a depth calling unto a height,

But it is not the deep nor the high.

It is the caged taking wing,

But it is not space encompassed.

And, in very truth, pleasure is a freedom-song.

And I fain would have you sing it with fullness of heart;

yet I would not have you lose your hearts in the singing.

Some of your youth seek pleasure as if it were all,

and they are judged and rebuked.

I would not judge nor rebuke them. I would have them seek.

For they shall find pleasure, but not her alone:

Seven are her sisters,

and the least of them is more beautiful than pleasure.

Have you not heard of the man

who was digging in the earth for roots

and found a treasure?

And some of your elders remember

pleasures with regret like wrongs

committed in drunkenness.

But regret is the beclouding of the mind

and not its chastisement.

They should remember their pleasures with gratitude,

as they would the harvest of a summer.

Yet if it comforts them to regret, let them be comforted.

And there are among you those

who are neither young to seek nor old to remember;

And in their fear of seeking

and remembering they shun all pleasures,

lest they neglect the spirit or offend against it.

But even in their foregoing is their pleasure.

And thus they too find a treasure

though they dig for roots with quivering hands.

But tell me,

who is he that can offend the spirit?

Shall the nightingale offend

the stillness of the night,

or the firefly the stars?

And shall your flame or

your smoke burden the wind?

Think you the spirit is a still pool

which you can trouble with a staff?

Oftentimes in denying yourself pleasure

you do but store the desire

in the recesses of your being.

Who knows but that

which seems omitted today,

waits for tomorrow?

Even your body knows its heritage

and its rightful need and will not be deceived.

And your body is the harp of your soul,

And it is yours to bring forth

sweet music from it or confused sounds.

And now you ask in your heart,

"How shall we distinguish that

which is good in pleasure

from that which is not good?"

Go to your fields and your gardens,

and you shall learn that it is the pleasure

of the bee to gather honey of the flower,

But it is also the pleasure

of the flower to yield its honey to the bee.

For to the bee a flower is a fountain of life,

And to the flower a bee is a messenger of love,

And to both, bee and flower,

the giving and the receiving of pleasure

is a need and an ecstasy.

People of Orphalese,

be in your pleasures

like the flowers and the bees.

ON MARRIAGE

Then Almitra spoke again and said,

"And what of Marriage, master?"

And he answered saying:

You were born together,

and together you shall be forevermore.

You shall be together

when white wings of death scatter your days.

Aye, you shall be together

even in the silent memory of God.

But let there be spaces in your togetherness,

And let the winds of the heavens

dance between you.

Love one another

but make not a bond of love:

Let it rather be a moving sea

between the shores of your souls.

Fill each other's cup

but drink not from one cup.

Give one another of your bread

but eat not from the same loaf.

Sing and dance together and be joyous,

but let each one of you be alone,

Even as the strings of a lute are alone

though they quiver with the same music.

Give your hearts,

but not into each other's keeping.

For only the hand of Life

can contain your hearts.

And stand together,

yet not too near together:

For the pillars of the temple stand apart,

And the oak tree and the cypress grow

not in each other's shadow.

ON RELIGION

And an old priest said,

"Speak to us of Religion."

And he said:

Have I spoken this day of aught else?

Is not religion all deeds and all reflection,

And that which is neither

deed nor reflection,

but a wonder and

a surprise ever springing in the soul,

even while the hands hew

the stone or tend the loom?

Who can separate his faith from his actions,

or his belief from his occupations?

Who can spread his hours before him,

saying, "This for God and this for myself;

This for my soul, and this other for my body?"

All your hours are wings

that beat through space from self to self.

He who wears his morality

but as his best garment were better naked.

The wind and the sun will tear no holes in his skin.

And he who defines his conduct by ethics

imprisons his song-bird in a cage.

The freest song comes not through bars and wires.

And he to whom worshipping is a window,

to open but also to shut,

has not yet visited the house of his soul

whose windows are from dawn to dawn.

Your daily life is

your temple and your religion.

Whenever you enter into it

take with you your all.

Take the plough and the forge

and the mallet and the lute,

The things you have fashioned

in necessity or for delight.

For you cannot rise

above your achievements

nor fall lower than your failures.

And take with you all men:

For in adoration you cannot fly higher

than their hopes

nor humble yourself

lower than their despair.

And if you would know God

be not therefore a solver of riddles.

Rather look about you

and you shall see Him

playing with your children.

And look into space;

you shall see Him walking in the cloud,

outstretching His arms

in the lightning and descending in rain.

You shall see Him smiling in flowers,

then rising and waving His hands in trees.

ON PRAYER

Then a priestess said,

"Speak to us of Prayer."

And he answered, saying:

You pray in your distress

and in your need;

would that you might pray also

in the fullness of your joy

and in your days of abundance.

For what is prayer

but the expansion of yourself

into the living ether?

And if it is for your comfort

to pour your darkness into space,

it is also for your delight

to pour forth the dawning of your heart.

And if you cannot but weep

when your soul summons you to prayer,

she should spur you again and yet again,

though weeping,

until you shall come laughing.

When you pray you rise to meet in the air

those who are praying at that very hour,

and whom save in prayer you may not meet.

Therefore let your visit to that temple

invisible be for naught

but ecstasy and sweet communion.

For if you should enter the temple

for no other purpose

than asking you shall not receive.

And if you should enter into it

to humble yourself you shall not be lifted:

Or even if you should enter into it

to beg for the good of others

you shall not be heard.

It is enough that you enter the temple invisible.

I cannot teach you how to pray in words.

God listens not to your words

save when He Himself

utters them through your lips.

And I cannot teach you the prayer of the seas

and the forests and the mountains.

But you who are born of the mountains

and the forests and the seas

can find their prayer in your heart.

And if you but listen in the stillness of the night

you shall hear them saying in silence,

"Our God,

who art our winged self,

it is thy will in us that willeth.

It is thy desire in us that desireth.

It is thy urge in us

that would turn our nights,

which are thine,

into days which are thine also.

We cannot ask thee for aught,

for thou knowest our needs

before they are born in us:

Thou art our need; and in giving us more of thyself thou givest us all."

LOVE IS THE SECRET

The Law of Attraction-The Secret Dearest Oggie, I wonder if you would like to read this secret law of attraction. These are the best thoughts, thinking, visualizations, inspirations, insights, meditations and mental exercises I have read in a long time. I am very grateful to Ivan for sending this to me. Right on time. So timely! And I wish to share it with you. I know that this is highly develop Spanish romantic language, but I think you will understand, and if you don't; let me know, I will translate this just for you! I want to thank you for taking the time to calling me and talking to me so late, the other night. I know you get home tired and need your rest. And with this cold nights-one wants to be deep inside the frisas. I have been wanting to thank you for a long time- for all you share, and for giving of yourself so selfishly. I want to send you hugs, and positive thoughts, and to thank you because you care, and because you keep in touch. But most of all, I thank you for your love. It is not that we do much -it is that the little we do-we do it with love. And God's first commandment is for love. To love God above all things, and to love others as we love ourselves, to love your neighbors, all God's creatures, and to love God is to love yourself and all the living things God creates. And it is love that opens the gates of heaven to us. It is our love ones that save our souls. Love gives life. Loving is living. What is life without love? Without love there is nothing, nothing at all! It is like living without God...So in keeping with God's commands, I love you lots and thank you much-Thank you very much! Mommy dearest

REMEMBER . . .

Enjoy Perfect Photography --- Catch the moment . Remember the buddy system... because two have more fun than one! Take time once in a while to just enjoy the moment... When someone tries to surprise you, let them think they got away with it. Don't worry about what you see in the mirror, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder... Remember, your mother thinks you're cute.. even if no one else does. Always try to do what you are taught, it can sometimes lead to beautiful things... Try to give a gentle lift to a friend in need... Search for the best route to what you're hoping for... No goal is too hard to attain when you persevere... Sometimes it's better to watch from a distance and plan your next move carefully... Get to know someone first before accepting that s/he may be your enemy... Be careful what you put into your body, health is too important to ignore... Present yourself well and mind your manners... Remember, no matter how much you resemble your siblings, you are still unique! Taking a power nap from time to time can put you back in the pink! Whenever possible, jump and clap for joy! Always keep in mind that the world is filled with marvels... You never know what awaits around the next bend!

FIVE FINGERS PRAYER

1. Your thumb is nearest you. So begin your prayers by praying for those closest to you. They are the easiest to remember. To pray for our loved ones is, as C. S. Lewis once said, a 'sweet duty.' 2. The next finger is the pointing finger. Pray for those who teach, instruct and heal. This includes teachers, doctors, and ministers. They need support and wisdom in pointing others in the right direction. Keep them in your prayers. 3. The next finger is the tallest finger. It reminds us of our leaders. Pray for the president, leaders in business and industry, and administrators. These people shape our nation and guide public opinion. They need God's guidance. 4. The fourth finger is our ring finger. Surprising to many is the fact that this is our weakest finger, as any piano teacher will testify. It should remind us to pray for those who are weak, in trouble or in pain. They need your prayers day and night. You cannot pray too much for them. 5. And lastly comes our little finger. The smallest finger of all which is where we should place ourselves in relation to God and others. As the Bible says, 'The least shall be the greatest among you.' Your pinkie should remind you to pray for yourself. By the time you have prayed for the other four groups, your own needs will be put into proper perspective and you will be able to pray for yourself more effectively. Don't tell God how big your storm is, Tell the storm how big your God is!

Another anchor to the triangular patch of neighborhood surrounding Spring and Main will soon be National City Tower Lofts, a project which like it’s slightly skinnier friend across the street, has maintained a low profile until now.

Its equally low-key developer, a private family operating under the legal name National City Towers LLC, expects to deliver the 93-unit loft conversion by early September. (According to reps, the company also owns the Broadway Trade Center a couple blocks away and has plans to convert the behemoth structure into 600 lofts in the near future.)

The 12-story former bank building has been refitted with a variety of residential floor plans ranging from 617 to 1,884 square-feet, priced to rent as low as $2.26 per square-foot up to over $3.00 for two-story penthouse. Luxury finishes, spacious storage rooms and ample resident amenities on the roof and first basement level will offer a competitive edge over the neighboring Great Republic condos.

A large footprint with street frontage on three sides of the building will make way for 5 to 6 commercial tenants, the first being vegetarian haven Infusion Cafe set to open this fall.

INTERNET MARKETING

Internet marketing through email and blogs has garnered a considerable amount of trust among business people. No one can discount the amount of mileage or visibility one can enjoy on the Internet.

The long list of options, and effects, that may be brought about by online marketing all come together with the idea of gaining product visibility and customer patronage, obtainable through the easy, convenient, and low-cost technology of email communication.

Internet Marketing

Email or blog marketing extends from company notices for the customer regarding product information and purchase-related concerns, to entire newsletters that include every possible piece of knowledge related to the product that marketer wants to make customers aware of. The information that may be included in an email or blog post is endless, and comes down merely to message selection and execution designed to have the greatest impact on the customer.

Considering this trend, there have emerged an extensive number of resources available to business people who want to take advantage of the benefits of internet marketing. These tools offer a vast range marketing advice, industry news, affiliate updates and directories that may prove essential for effective online marketing:

Focused on internet marketing, the website features article with titles such as “Use Serialization to Boost Your Readership”, “Study Reveals Email Tactics of Top U.S. Retailers”, “Cool Email Idea: Email to Encourage Store Traffic”, and “How to make sure your email is legal”.

The website is a great information source for tips and reminders related to email marketing.

Emailresults

This provides a comprehensive online directory that features online marketing agencies, email consultants, and various services that give assistance for other online marketing strategies such as online ad space, cost-per-click ads, and newsletters.

About.com

One of the biggest information sources on the World Wide Web, this collection of articles and other resources contains a section on internet advertising, complete with everything from tips, technology and marketing strategies, and other related pieces of advice that may in the long run be valuable to advertisers.

Some of the available entries include those titled “Instruments of Email Marketing”, “Do Affiliate Marketing Programs Really Work?”, “6 Tips to Choosing an Affiliate Advertising Program- What to look for in an Affiliate Advertising Program for Your Blog” and “How to Start a Google AdSense Account and Make Money Blogging”.

Tips from these helpful sites have served people well in the past. One merely needs to put them into practice, and learn from them while perhaps educating others about the ins and outs of the online business.

I hope that this post helps those really motivated business entrepreneurs who are really for that initial break. I would like to know more resources to add to this list. It will help a lot of enthusiastic bloggers also.

ERICKA'S SUBMISSIONS

You are worth the trouble and effort required to make your life the best it can possibly be. There is so very much you have to express, to give, to experience and to contribute to the magnificent fabric of life.

You are worth the discomfort and frustration

that you'll regularly need to get through.

You are worth the pain that

the world will sometimes offer.

For within you is the capacity

for great joy and astounding achievement.

Within you are beautiful and worthy

dreams that long to be fulfilled.

You are one of a kind and you are

filled with a driving purpose.

You are worth whatever it takes

to give that special purpose

a lasting and meaningful expression.

Yes, the disappointments,

inconveniences, pains,

problems and annoyances

will surely and steadily come.

Yet they are indeed

quite trivial compared

to the precious possibilities

that live within you.

Make whatever efforts necessary,

endure whatever setbacks you must,

move forward through whatever

challenges may come along.

For there is no question that

you are worth it.

"Whatever you can do or believe you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it." -- Goethe PEACE It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart. -- Author Unknown

A GREAT NOTE FOR ALL TO READ - A PRESENT

Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs.

His bed was next to the room ' s only window. The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back. The men talked for hours on end.

They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation. Every afternoon, when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window. The man in the other bed began to live for those one hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the world outside.

The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake.

Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every color and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance.

As the man by the window described all this in exquisite details, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine this picturesque scene. One warm afternoon, the man by the window described a parade passing by. Although the other man could not hear the band - he could see it in his mind ' s eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words. Days, weeks and months passed. One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep.

She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away. As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone. Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the real world outside.

He strained to slowly turn to look out the window besides the bed. It faced a blank wall. The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window. The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall. She said, "Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you."

Epilogue: There is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our own situations. Shared grief is half the sorrow, but happiness when shared, is doubled. If you want to feel rich, just count all the things you have that money can ' t buy. "Today is a gift, that is why it is called The Present."

NO ONE LEFT TO SPEAK UP FOR ME

First they came for the Communists, and I didn't speak up, because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Social Democrats, and I didn't speak up, because I wasn't a Social Democrat. Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I didn't speak up, because I wasn't a Trade Unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up, because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for me, and by that time there was no one left to speak up for me.

A WEDDING GIFT FOR MY DAUGHTER

I had picked out the flowers in my wedding bouquet carefully, with a lot of thought for the meaning of each one. There was blue iris, my favorite flower; white roses, symbolizing my mother's presence, birds of paradise, a reminder of my past loves, freedom, and new beginnings, and strands of green ivy, to represent truthfulness. I grew up in a house with a rose garden. I love flowers. Midway through my wedding reception, at our favorite hang-out, Cafe La Boheme, in San Francisco, CA. I found myself breathless and happy, chatting with friends and other "bohemians", juggling a full champagne glass with my flowers in hand. Suddenly, I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned to see a woman I had met only briefly, a woman people called crazy. In her hand, she held a tendril of ivy. This fell out of your bouquet when you were dancing, she said. I thanked her and began to reach for it, when she added; Do you mind if I keep it? I was startled at first. I wasn't going to toss my bouquet away. I barely knew this woman. And she was kind of scary looking, with unkept brittle gray hair, 1930's long silk dress, and a rare smell. I was taken aback by her. What did she want with my ivy? But then practicality kicked in. I was celebrating in a public place. And it was her hang-out too. I was going out that night and certainly wouldn't take the bouquet along. I had no plans for preserving it. And I'd been given so much anyway. She did look crazy, but also harmless. She looked old and alone, but her past beauty showed, and she seemed nice, intelligent, and accomodating. Go ahead. Keep it, I said with a smile, and congratulated myself for being gracious in the face of a rather odd request. Then the music started up, and I danced off in the crowd. A few months later, the bell rang at our home. I opened the door to find that same stranger on my door. This time, I couldn't hide my surprise. I hadn't seen her eversince. What was this all about? How did she knew where I lived? How dare her to come in! I have a wedding gift for you, she said, and held out a small planter crowded with foliage. Suddenly, I knew. It's the ivy you dropped at your wedding, she explained. I took it home and made a cutting and planted it for you. Years ago, at her own wedding, someone had done the same for her. Its still growing, and I remember my wedding day every time I see it, she said. Now, I try to plant some for other brides when I can. I was speechless. All the quirky thoughts I'd had, and what a beautiful gift I'd received! My wedding ivy thrived for many years, outliving any other effort I made at indoor gardening. As Ana predicted, a glance at the glossy green leaves brings back memories of white lace and wedding vows. I treasured the ivy's story but kept it to myself. Now, more than twenty years later, after my wedding day of July 2, 1997, I'm the mother of three grown children. And my only daughter was getting married. The best wedding gift for her was of course the same gift that meant so much to me. But would it mean the same to her? How can I explain? There is too much to say. And it is the life I lived, not one to look for but to let go of. So since I didn't want to be an interfering in-law, sounding crazy and old, (just like my friend Ana) I let it go. I gave up to suggest to my daughter that her bride's bouquet contained a bit of ivy. And although I no longer had the plant to cut it from, I know just the place I could go, full of truthfulness to give to her. And I am going there "one of these days"!

STRANGE

Strange, Isn't It?
  • Isn't it strange how a 20-dollar-bill seems like such a large amount when you donate it to church, but such a small amount when you go shopping?
  • how 2 hours seem so long when you're at church, and how short they seem when you're watching a good movie?
  • that you can't find a word to say when you're praying, but you have no trouble thinking what to talk about with a friend?
  • how difficult and boring it is to read one chapter of the Bible, but how easy it is to read 100 pages of a popular novel or book?
  • how everyone wants front-row-tickets to concerts or games, but they do whatever is possible to sit at the last row in church?
  • how we need to know about an event for Church 2-3 weeks before the day so we can include it in our agenda, but we can adjust it for other events at the last minute?
  • how difficult it is to learn a fact about God to share it with others, but how easy it is to learn, understand, extend and repeat gossip?
  • how we believe everything that magazines and newspapers say, but we question the words in the Bible?
  • how everyone wants a place in heaven, but they don't want to believe, do, or say anything to get there?
  • how we send jokes in e-mails and they are forwarded right away; but, when we are going to send messages about God, we think about it twice before we share it with others?
  • How strange it is-isn't it, that this can be deleted by this blog?

OFFICE PARTY INVITATION

FROM: Asi Locreo, Human Resources Director TO: All Employees DATE: July 01, 2008 RE: Holiday Party (planning five months ahead)

I'm happy to inform you that the company Christmas Party will take place on December 23, starting at noon in the private function room at the Grill House. There will be a cash bar and plenty of drinks! We'll have a small band playing traditional carols...feel free to sing along. And don't be surprised if our CEO shows up dressed as Santa Claus! A Christmas tree will be lit at 1:00 pm. Exchange of gifts among employees can be done at that time; however, no gift should be over $10.00 to make the giving of gifts easy for everyone's pockets. This gathering is only for employees! Our CEO will make a special announcement at that time! Merry Christmas to you and your family. Asi

FROM: Asi Locreo, Human Resources Director TO: All Employees DATE: July 02, 2008 RE: Holiday Party In no way was yesterday's memo intended to exclude our Jewish employees. We recognize that Chanukah is an important holiday, which often coincides with Christmas, though unfortunately not this year. However, from now on we're calling it our "Holiday Party." The same policy applies to any other employees who are not Christians or those still celebrating Reconciliation Day. There will be no Christmas tree present. No Christmas carols sung. We will have other types of music for your enjoyment. Happy now? Happy Holidays to you and your family.

Asi

FROM: Asi Locreo, Human Resources Director TO: All Employees DATE: July 03, 2008 RE: Holiday Party Regarding the note I received from a member of Alcoholics Anonymous requesting a non-drinking table ... you didn't sign your name. I'm happy to accommodate this request, but if I put a sign on a table that reads, "AA Only"; you wouldn't be anonymous anymore. How am I supposed to handle this? Somebody? Anybody? Forget about the gifts exchange, no gifts exchange are allowed since the union members feel that $10.00 is too much money and executives believe $10.00 is a little chintzy. NO GIFTS EXCHANGE WILL BE ALLOWED. Asi

FROM: Asi Locreo, Human Resources Director To: All Employees DATE: July 04, 2008 RE: Holiday Party What a diverse group we are! I had no idea that December 20 begins the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which forbids eating and drinking during daylight hours. There goes the party! Seriously, we can appreciate how a luncheon at this time of year does not accommodate our Muslim employees' beliefs. Perhaps the Grill House can hold off on serving your meal until the end of the party- or else package everything for you to take it home in little foil doggy baggy. Will that work? Meanwhile, I've arranged for members of Weight Watchers to sit farthest from the dessert buffet and pregnant women will get the table closest to the restrooms. Gays are allowed to sit with each other. Lesbians do not have to sit with Gay men, each will have their own table. Yes, there will be flower arrangement for the Gay men's table. To the person asking permission to cross dress, no cross-dressing allowed though. We will have booster seats for short people. Low-fat food will be available for those on a diet. We cannot control the salt used in the food we suggest for those people with high blood pressure to taste first. There will be fresh fruits as dessert for Diabetics, the restaurant cannot supply "No Sugar" desserts. Sorry! Did I miss anything?!?!? Asi

FROM: Asi Locreo, Human Resources Director TO: All F******g Employees DATE: July 05, 2008 RE: The F******g Holiday Party Vegetarian dckheads I've had it with you people!!! We're going to keep this party at the Grill House whether you like it or not, so you can sit quietly at the table furthest from the "grill of death," as you so quaintly put it, and you'll get your f******g salad bar, including organic tomatoes. But you know, tomatoes have feelings, too. They scream when you slice them. I've heard them scream. I'm hearing them scream right NOW! I hope you all have a rotten holiday! Drive drunk and die, The Btch from HELL!!!!!!!!

FROM: A.M.O.R., Acting Human Resources Director DATE: July 06, 2008 RE: Asi Locreo and the Holiday Party I'm sure I speak for all of us in wishing my mother a speedy recovery and I'll continue to forward your cards to her. In the meantime, management has decided to cancel our Holiday Party and give everyone the afternoon of the 23rd off with full pay!

PUZZLES

1-Bulbs

This is one of my favorite logic puzzles. Imagine you are in a room with 3 switches. In an adjacent room there are 3 bulbs (all are off at the moment), each switch belongs to one bulb. It is impossible to see from one room to another. How can you find out which switch belongs to which bulb, if you may enter the room with the bulbs only once?

2-Ball in a Hole

A table tennis ball fell into a tight deep pipe. The pipe was only a bit wider then the ball, so you can not use your hand. How would you take it out, with no damage?

3-The Man in the Elevator

A man lives on the tenth floor of a building. Every morning he takes the elevator down to the lobby and leaves the building. In the evening, he gets into the elevator, and, if there is someone else in the elevator - or if it was raining that day - he goes back to his floor directly. Otherwise, he goes to the seventh floor and walks up three flights of stairs to his apartment. Can you explain why? (This is probably the best known and most celebrated of all lateral thinking logic puzzles. It is a true classic. Although there are many possible solutions which fit the initial conditions, only the canonical answer is truly satisfying.)

4-Ball

How can you throw a ball as hard as you can and have it come back to you, even if it doesn't hit anything, there is nothing attached to it, and no one else catches or throws it?

5-Magnet

This is a logic puzzle published in Martin Gardner's column in the Scientific American. You are in a room where there are no metal objects except for two iron rods. Only one of them is a magnet. How can you identify this magnet?

6-Castle

A square medieval castle on a square island was under siege. All around the island, there was a 10 metre wide water moat. But the conquerors could make foot-bridges only 9.5 metres long. Nevertheless a wise man was able to figure out how to get over the water. What do you think was his advice? (There's a place on the other side to put the bridge against, not just a sheer wall. the water moat has square corners - that section of the moat is about 14.1 metres wide.)

7-Biology

Let's say some primitive organisms divide themselves every minute in two equal parts which also divide the next minute and so on. The saucer in which we started observing this process was full at 12.00. When was it half full?

8-Sheikh's Heritage

An Arab sheikh tells his two sons to race their camels to a distant city to see who will inherit his fortune. The one whose camel is slower will win. The brothers, after wandering aimlessly for days, ask a wise man for advice. After hearing the advice they jump on the camels and race as fast as they can to the city. What does the wise man say?

9-Philosopher's Clock

This is an old logic puzzle. One philosopher had a clock, which he had forgotten to wind up. He had no other clock, watch, radio, TV, phone or any other device telling the time. So when his clock stopped he went to a friend, stayed there the whole night and when he came home, he knew the right time. How could he know?

10-Masters of Logic Puzzles I. (dots)

Three masters of logic wanted to find out who was the wisest one. So they invited the grand master, who took them into a dark room and said: "I will paint each one of you a red or a blue dot on your forehead. When you walk out and you see at least one red point, raise your hands. The one who says what colour is the dot on his own forehead first, wins." Then he painted only red dots on every one. When they went out everybody had their hands up and after a while one of them said: "I have a red dot on my head." How could he be so sure?

11-Masters of Logic Puzzles II. (hats)

The two losing masters wanted a riposte, so the grand master showed them 5 hats, two white and three black. Then he said: "I will turn off the light and put a hat on each of your heads and hide the other hats. When I turn on the light you will have equal chances to win. Each of you will see the hats of the two others, however not his own. The first one saying the colour of his hat will win." Then before he could turn off the light, one of the masters (the same one again) guessed, what the colour of his hat will be. What hat was it and how did he know?

12-Masters of Logic Puzzles III. (stamps)

Try this. The grand master takes a set of 8 stamps, 4 red and 4 green, known to the logicians, and loosely affixes two to the forehead of each logician so that each logician can see all the other stamps except those 2 in the moderator's pocket and the two on her own head. He asks them in turn if they know the colors of their own stamps:

A: "No." B: "No." C: "No." A: "No." B: "Yes."

What are the colors of her stamps, and what is the situation?

13-Head Bands

Three white men were taken captive by a hostile Indian tribe. The chieftain was willing to let them go so he took them to a tepee, where there was no light. He put one head band on each of their heads (he had 3 white and 2 red - so 2 head bands were not used). Then they went out in a queue so that each man saw the head-band of those standing in front of himself (the first one did not see any head band, the second one saw the first one's head band, and the third one saw the head bands of the two others). If somebody said the colour of his head-band, they all would be free. After a quiet while one of them said: "My head-band is ...". What colour was his head band? And how would you reason it?

14-Christmas Tree

There were 4 angels on a Christmas tree (besides other frou-frou). Two had a blue aureole and two yellow, however none of them can see behind his head. Angel A is on the highest place and he can see angels B and C, which hang below him. Below hangs angel B, who can see only angel C under him. Angel C can't see anybody, because angel D hangs under a twig (nobody can see him and he can not see anyone either). Which one of them will be the first to guess what his own aureole is?

ON LOVE

Then I said, "Speak to us of Love."

And he raised his head and looked upon the people,

and there fell a stillness upon them.

And with a great voice he said:

When love beckons to you follow him,

Though his ways are hard and steep.

And when his wings enfold you yield to him,

Though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you.

So shall he descend to your roots

and shake them in their clinging to the earth.

Like sheaves of corn he gathers you unto himself.

He threshes you to make you naked.

He sifts you to free you from your husks.

He grinds you to whiteness.

He kneads you until you are pliant;

Then it is better for you that you cover your nakedness

and pass out of love's threshing-floor,

Into the seasonless world where you shall laugh,

but not all of your laughter,

and weep, but not all of your tears.

Love gives naught but itself

and takes naught but from itself.

Love possesses not nor would it be possessed;

For love is sufficient unto love.

When you love you should not say, "God is in my heart,"

but rather, I am in the heart of God."

And think not you can direct the course of love,

if it finds you worthy, directs your course.

Love has no other desire but to fulfil itself.

But if you love and must needs have desires,

let these be your desires:

To melt and be like a running brook

that sings its melody to the night.

To know the pain of too much tenderness.

To be wounded by your own understanding of love;

And to bleed willingly and joyfully.

To wake at dawn with a winged heart

and give thanks for another day of loving;

To rest at the noon hour and meditate love's ecstasy;

To return home at eventide with gratitude;

And then to sleep with a prayer for the beloved in your heart and a song of praise upon your lips. Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet.

MY CAT FIFI DIARY EVERY DAY - I HATE
Day 731 of my captivity. My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets.
Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet. Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a 'good little hunter' I am. Bastards!
There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of 'allergies.' I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.
This morning I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow-- but at the top of the stairs.
I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded. The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicate with the guards regularly . I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now. And that fish just swims, how boring she is!

MY MONEY AND I

Today I was watching PBS television/channel 16 (1-800-278-5050), www.koce.org, when I heard SUZE ORMAN, speaking about her book, (“WOMEN & MONEY: Owning the Power to Control Your Destiny”), (2007), (Advice). I decided to blog this for us to see. These words got my attention: “HAVE A HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR MONEY, CHANGE HOW YOU FEEL, HOW YOU THINK ABOUT IT-IT IS NOT TOO HARD OR DIFFICULT. YOU CAN DO IT! DEVELOP A POSITIVE RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR MONEY”. Oh, this hit home because I have wasted time developing relationships with every body and everything else but money. In fact, I always got rid of it as soon as I got it, even before I had it . So I continued to pay attention and heard: “OPEN A SAVE YOURSELF ACCOUNT-DEPOSIT $50 A MONTH-IN 12 MONTHS-GET A $100.00 BONUS.” Ah, it so happens that I just opened my first savings account, after ten years. So now, I sat down and took notes of this: EIGHT QUALITIES OF A WEALTHY WOMYN: 1. HARMONY Say what you do and do what you say. Be careful with what you think, say or do, because it will become your actions. 2 .BALANCE Have equilibrium in your life, be in sinc. 3. COURAGE Silent your fears, take necessary actions. 4. GENEROSITY Be generous, be a giver, to yourself. It will empower what you are doing. Give in proportion to what you received. 5. HAPPINESS Cause and effect of all of the above. 6. CLEANINESS To invite wealth, get rid of clutter. 7. BEAUTY Inner strength, confidence. Know your own worth and power. 8 WISDOM To make wise choices and to own all of the above. I extrapolated that: We will be WISE if we seek BEAUTY by being CLEAN, it will makes us HAPPY, so we can be GENEROUS, and have the COURAGE to BALANCE our lives in HARMONY, And that, Having HARMONY in our lives requires BALANCE, to be COURAGEOUS, and GENEROUS, which will make us HAPPY, to be CLEAN, and feel BEAUTIFUL, which will make us WISE. So, I feel WISE and choose to be WEALTHY. HOPE YOU DO THE SAME . . . GOOD LUCK!

AS I CREATE . . .

One of these days, I am going to write the story of my life. And this day may be today. I will write my sixty years of age, in six days. It sounds okay. I said the same a long time ago. I have been writing all that long. Still deciding how to start. And if to write for real or for less. A real or fictional account of my life. That decision had to be made. So I decided to do both, to write about my reality and my fictionality, and that is easier for me, so I am on my way, this is my first page! I decided to be funny, poetic, humorous and comedic. The painful moments of my life were a joke anyway, now laughable. It may have being insightful or a combination of both. But I won't dwell on that. And my writing won't be boring, isolated, a sacrifice, reclusive task. It does not have to be all about me either. You are a big part of it all. I am just a small part of everything. So I am writing about us. You are included in this text. I had gather titles, one liners, poems, songs, drawings, photos, and all that came along. I search, research, for the best words, that will grace, my pro monologue, or prologue. And I found great ones online. I would credit authors, writers, publishers, bloggers, if I remember their names. I have been in so many public domains, public places for public view, I don't remember them all. But they were all in tune-all had my mind set. So these words became my words. Many of the read, I retained, believed, lived, and dreamed ... And here I re-create: "Writing my life story involves a sharing of uncommon grace, moral courage, integrity and that all important ingredient-a wonderful sense of humor. As I write mine, I am entertaining these thoughts: That my writing instrument is my body, my brain with its collective memory; my heart with its vulnerability; and my spirit, which shapes my personal view on life and what it's all about. I am committed to write down my life for the benefit of mothers, specially my daughter, and my sons, grands, lovers, friends, others with the interest. It is my job to be entirely honest. If I render myself vulnerable with the way it happened, I will reach across time to people I care about, some of whom, I have not seen for many years, but to whom I am still emotionally connected."
"The prize beyond price if I do it right is letting good people know that I walked this earth before them, that I too faced difficult life issues, struggled with them, fought my way through them and in the journey I learned some truths about life. Life is not an endless onslaught of momentous moments. My story may include a poignant piece about intimate relations. I may laugh about my hair bi-colors, all the jobs I had to let go, reminisce about my life in Puerto Rico, (San Juan, Santurce, Bayamon), and in the U.S.A. (New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles)."
"But if I write about my early role models, my dreaming about being like Maria Felix, (a 1950's Mexican movies diva) and becoming like her, I will have to face myself. I have to realized that I became Maria Fadli, like her, and I married a man name, Agustin, as she did. She was called, "La Dona", and my father called me, "Dona Nena". I realized that she starred in a movie entitled, "The General", I was called "La Generala". All these similarities amazed me. I also dream of kissing with George Clooney, Denzel Washington, Jimmy Smits, Andy Garcia and with Bill Maher. And to reveal that is a gasp. I am gasping now! I wonder about comments on the early days of my children lives or lovers of mine. Or to share stories of heartache and loss almost beyond all imaginings. To bear witness to anguish and anger. Or to stay honest with myself and my reader about my life. To avoid the public face, that face so necessary to get by in the commotion of living. That has no place here, in this priceless sharing from the heart. If I am to reach inside for the spiritual me, the fragile me, the timid me, the hesitant me, the assertive me and the me who never could find the right thing to say until the moment had past and give it all to my reader, I will be more grateful than words can express, for I have started living." "And I tell you this: I passed this way. I stumbled. Sometimes I won. Sometimes I knew pain so great I could not go on--but here I am. I have loved and known exquisite joys. I have hurt to the profoundest depths of my being. Mostly, I survived. And I hope in these writings you will learn of one journey that went before my youthful tread. I hope it will offer help to you, by avoiding my mistakes or building on my occasional success. Mostly, I hope you know me and can find in my life some experiences that will, in some small measure, help guide you through yours." So this is it. This I believe, I think and I create, because it is my creed. As I create - Asi lo creo!

WE CAN RELEASE THE PAST

TODAY, I TAKE ALL MY UNHAPPY MEMORIES OUT OF MY BODY AND PLACE THEM IN A BASKET. MY PAIN, MY ANGER, AND MY RESENTMENTS ARE PLACED IN THIS BASKET. I HAVE AN ANGEL THAT TAKES THIS BASKET OF UNHAPPINESS FROM MY HANDS AND FLIES TO THE OUTER REACHES OF THE UNIVERSE AND TRANSFORMS IT INTO LOVING ENERGY THAT WILL REVISIT ME LATER TODAY. I FORGIVE THOSE AROUND ME AND ASK FOR DIVINE ASSISTANCE TO HOLD ME IN A STATE OF CONTINUAL FORGIVENESS. THANKS GOD FOR THAT!

MY SON HAS MY EYES

I had a blind son who hated himself because he was blind.
He hated me, because he said it was my fault he could not see.
He told me one day, "If I could only see the world, I will love you."
One day, I told him that someone donated a pair of eyes for him.
When the bandages came off, he was able to see everything, including me.
I asked him, "Now that you can see the world, will you love me?
He looked at me, and saw that I was blind.
The sight of my closed eyelids shocked him.
He hadn't expected that. I have had have my sight all this time.
The thought of looking at me the rest of his life led him to refuse to love me.
I broke in tears, and stayed away but some days later I asked someone to write him a note saying:
"Take good care of your eyes, my dear, for before they were yours, they were mine."

ON BEING BROWN

Being Brown, Dark, Black,
They take my kindness for weakness.
They take my silence for speechless.
They consider my uniqueness strange.
They call my language slang.
They see my confidence as conceit.
They see my mistakes as defeat.
They consider my success accidental.
They minimize my intelligence to "potential".
My questions mean "I'm unaware".
My advancement is somehow unfair.
Any praise is preferential treatment.
To voice concern is discontentment.
If I stand up for myself, I'm too defensive.
If I don't trust them, I'm too apprehensive.
I'm defiant if I separate. I'm fake if I assimilate.
Yet, constantly I am faced with self hate.
My character is constantly under attack.
Pride for my race makes me, "TOO PROUD".
Yet, I can only be me.
And, who am I you might ask?
I am that Brown Skinned Womyn . . .
Who stands on the backs of my ancestors. with an erect spine pointing to the stars with pride,
dignity and respect which lets me know, that I not only possess the ability to play by the rules, but I can make them as well!

INFREQUENTLY OR IN FREQUENTLY?

An elderly village couple had been dating for some time. Finally, they decided it was time for marriage. Before the wedding, they went out to dinner. They discussed finances, living arrangements and so on. Finally the old gentleman decided it was time to broach the subject of their physical relationship. "How do you feel about sex?" he asked, rather trustingly. "Well," she says, responding carefully, "I'd have to say I would like it rather infrequently." The old gentleman sat quietly for a moment. Then, looking over his glasses, he looked her in the eye casually asking, "Was that one word or two?"

MY GRANDSON SEBASTIAN

On Children

And a woman who held a babe against her bosom said,

"Speak to us of Children."

And he said:

Your children are not your children.

They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.

They come through you but not from you,

And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts.

For they have their own thoughts.

You may house their bodies but not their souls,

For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,

which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.

You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.

For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.

You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.

The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite,

and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.

Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;

For even as he loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable.

WHY DID THE CHICKEN CROSS THE ROAD?

BARACK OBAMA: The chicken crossed the road because it was time for a CHANGE! The chicken wanted CHANGE! JOHN MC CAIN: My friends, that chicken crossed the road because he recognized the need to engage in cooperation and dialogue with all the chickens on the other side of the road. HILLARY CLINTON: When I was First Lady, I personally helped that little chicken to cross the road. This experience makes me uniquely qualified to ensure -- right from Day One! -- that every chicken in this country gets the chance it deserves to cross the road. But then, this really isn't about me... DR. PHIL: The problem we have here is that this chicken won't realize that he must first deal with the problem on 'THIS' side of the road before it goes after the problem on the 'OTHER SIDE' of the road. What we need to do is help him realize how stupid he is acting by not taking on his 'CURRENT' problems before adding 'NEW' problems. OPRAH: Well, I understand that the chicken is having problems, which is why he wants to cross this road so bad. So instead of having the chicken learn from his mistakes and take falls, which is a part of life, I'm going to give this chicken a car so that he can just drive across the road and not live his life like the rest of the chickens. GEORGE W. BUSH: We don't really care why the chicken crossed the road. We just want to know if the chicken is on our side of the road, or not. The chicken is either against us, or for us. There is no middle ground here. ANDERSON COOPER - CNN: We have reason to believe there is a chicken, but we have not yet been allowed to have access to the other side of the road. NANCY GRACE: That chicken crossed the road because he's GUILTY! You can see it in his eyes and the way he walks. PAT BUCHANAN: To steal the job of a decent, hardworking American. DR SEUSS: Did the chicken cross the road? Did he cross it with a toad? Yes, the chicken crossed the road, but why it crossed I've not been told. ERNEST HEMINGWAY: To die in the rain. Alone. JERRY FALWELL: Because the chicken was gay! Can't you people see the plain truth? That's why they call it the 'other side. Yes, my friends, that chicken is gay. And if you eat that chicken, you will become gay too. I say we boycott all chickens until we sort out this abomination that the liberal media white washes with seemingly harmless phrases like 'the other side.' BARBARA WALTERS: Isn't that interesting? In a few moments, we will be listening to the chicken tell, for the first time, the heart warming story of how it experienced a serious case of molting, and went on to accomplish its life long dream of crossing the road.
